The Kalathipady Bus Stand-The Hip and Happening place of Kottayam!!!

Well...unlike kochi or gurgaon or dubai or any human habitable place....kottayam doesnt exactly have a mall ...yea..i know..im going over my head with expecting a mall and all...when we don't even have something uncomplicated as a coffee shop ...so..in such a pathetic...(i know..im still understating it..)..town like kottayam..there aren't exactly places where we teenagers can "hangout"..or "chill"..or whatever the word is nowadays..(sitting idle at home has kinda got me out of touch with reality..:/..)

I'm not saying kottyam is boring....(actually..that's exactly what I'm trying to say!!!) ...but it ain't ur fault..ur trying ur best...it's us..the people...however u try to make tthis as mordern as u can..we just..i dunno why...just run off to kochi to shop!!!we can't help it...we're just human...the grass is always greener on the other side....:(...

anyways...coming back to the subject I'm discussing abt.."The Kalathipady Bus Stand"...well..i don't think all u Kottayam people know where this particular spot might be...u know what...we should have a name...u know...us..the kottayam people...hmm..what abt the KTMites???okay..i might be getting a little carried away..cause that makes us sound like bugs or something that needs to be exterminated...pronto!!!!oh !!there i go..again..totally off topic...this time Im back for good!!"The Kalathipady Bus Stand"!!!hmmm...as the name suggests ..its in kalthilpady..and its a bus stand..i know..it doesnt seem interesting ...at all!!!..but trust me..if ur new in town...this is the place to be!!!!!!

I mean..this is where everything happens!!!!I remember the inter school fights ..usually between the Marians and  the Girideepams...I actually never understood the purpose of the fights..especially when the Girideepams always won..always!!!we just went to get our arses kicked!!!Of the very few of these battles that I have witnessed...it's always been like this..the Girideepams riding off on their bikes..(that are soo not cool...their basically just bullets with their silencers cut off or sumthing..)...and well..the Marians..walking off with black eyes and broken bones..

well..other than these much-publicized fights...a lot of stuff happens...there are the ever so famous proposals or the just really creepy stalking incidents ....its the place that listens to all our secrets and keeps them locked up!! all..the gossips..if u just keep one ear open..this is wat u'll hear.."OMG !!did u hear abt wat asheley did???she proposed Mark and he's like no??and i was like OMG!!how could she????the nerve she's got!!!!" or "Did u know how Gayathri aced the test???she cheated!!!she copied off my paper!!!I mean..how dare she???" and stuff like that...and then..there are the ever so interesting water fights..glitter fights and the cat fights!!!!

So this is all I can say...you gotta be there to actually be there..:)...I mean ..the noise ..the aroma..(of sweaty kids..)....the feel of that wave of wind mainly filled with sweat..spit and a lot of things i rather not mention...the adrenalin rush that u get when u jump into buses which already has people's body parts sticking out...but what I'm trying to say ..is ..it was one place that held a lot of memories for me and I'm sure for a lot of other people as well...it was like a part of school...and well..maybe a part of life...:)..

Good Better Best......

hmm..bakeries...the first thing that comes to my mind would be Anns.....and then i get all lost ..and would be drooling...thinking of all the donuts...brownies..(they've got the best!!unlike the rock solid ones at Jacobs..)..meat samosas....marble cakes...yummy yum....:)...and the most delicious of all...their rum-berry cake!!!!!!!!!!!!aah!!!!its eaten best when made cold and cut into tiny pieces....just pure genius!!!!!!k...i guess I've created a drool puddle....:p

I've known Anns..since forever....hmm...but I guess the nostalgia is even more stronger of those days I had come for the summer vacations....I remember coming and having tonnes of laddoos and jalebis with my cousins....man..those were the times...and all the aunties packing their suitcases with marble cakes and halwas....but i guess the most vibrant and colorful memory I have of Anns...would be..the "Christmas Tree" lady..the one who used to sit at the counter...man was she...umm...chrismassy!!!!!!as far as I can remember....I don't think she's ever worn the same churidar/saree more than once....but if you wanna see her now...she's moved onto Jacob's...and is chrismassy than ever!!!:D

But now...with all the fame...Anns has changed....A LOT!!!!I mean..all the food gets over before one in the afternoon...they've started their own brand named stuff...in a nutshell..they have become big "pulli's"!!!!and hence I move onto my next and current favorite bakery...Best!!!!!and well...it doesn't exactly give justice to the name...but its good enough....especially..the bun!!!!!!!!!!!its sooooooo soft..it literally melts in your mouth....aah....and then they've got this yucky goo called butter bean..it's got this fluorescent green color and  I have this strong feeling that they make it out of alien poop.....(I'm still researching on that...;)...)...and this is the only bakery that I have seen that sells chicken puffs....and there is this very exquisite..(with a lil' bit of sarcasm..)..."thing"..that they sell..at like one in the afternoon....its this roll..(actually..its just chicken curry wrapped in porota)......but I find it to be one of a kind...

But the most pathetic part about these bakeries in Kottayam...is the way they try to compete...to compete with Best...well..that's what Better bakery is for....but I don't get it...isn't it Good Better Best???so isn't Best better than Better?????so..I really don't see the point...and then there is Aariyaas...well...they've got a lot of pastries!!!all kinds of stuff we haven't even heard about!!!!I guess that would be the only bakery that sells marshmallows...(that taste like crap...but that's not the point!!!!)...and they've got these small miniature puffs that look really cute and taste...well...heavenly!!!!!!and last but not least on my list of the Awesomest Bakeries in Kottayam..(only I would be cuckoo enough to come up with such a preposterous list !!!)...would be AM Bakers...man are their shavarmas mouth watering!!!!!it reminds me of Dufai all over again!!!!!!

Well...these are the bakeries that have changed my life..one way or another...(actually not in any way I know of than a full stomach..).....but ..."I rather live to eat than eat to live!!!"....:)...
